The NVIDIA MMA4Z00-NS is an InfiniBand and Ethernet 800Gb/s 2x400Gb/s Twin-port OSFP, SR8 multimode, parallel, 8-channel transceiver using two, 4-channel MPO-12/APC optical connectors at 400Gb/s each. The parallel multimode, short reach 8-channel (SR8) uses 100G-PAM4 modulation and has a maximum fiber reach of 50-meters using 8 multimode fibers.The Quantum-2 and Spectrum-4 switches require finned-top OSFP shells for extra transceiver cooling. The main application for MMA4Z00-NS is linking two switches together with up to 50-meter transceivers.

Can "flat-topped" NDR and NDR200 transceivers be used on liquid-cooled switches?
A:
No, even though NDR/NDR200 transceivers have a flat top and shorter height, both air-cooled and liquid-cooled switches can only accommodate dual-port, 8-lane transceivers. There is a mechanical barrier in air-cooled switches that prohibits the insertion of flat-topped devices.
Q:
Why doesn't NDR have AOC cables like HDR?
A:
Due to a combination of factors such as single/multimode, air-cooling/liquid-cooling, and different lengths, an all-in-one AOC solution would be very complex and less flexible to deploy.
Q:
Why use MPO/APC (Angled Polished Connector)?
A:
100G-PAM4 optoelectronic devices are sensitive to reflections that occur inside the fibers. Around 10% of the light reflects to the transmitter, causing signal distortion. APC connectors can deflect these reflected light rays.
