Description

NVIDIA/Mellanox Original MMS4A20-XM800 single port transceiver, 800Gbps, OSFP DR4, MPO, APC 1310nm SMF, up to 500m, RHS

The NVIDIA MMS4A20-XM800 is an 800Gb/s single-port OSFP optical transceiver designed for XDR 800Gb/s InfiniBand networking over single-mode fiber. It is primarily used to connect Quantum-X800 QM3x00 switches to dual-800Gb/s ConnectX-8 mezzanine adapters in liquid-cooled systems and ConnectX-8 PCIe adapters. The OSFP cages are located on the front panel of the compute tray for direct high-density connectivity. The module operates with 4 lanes of 200G-PAM4 electrical signaling, enabling two bits per clock cycle. On the optical side, it implements a single 4-channel DR4 interface over one MPO-12/APC connector, supporting a datacenter reach of up to 500 meters over SMF. One MPO-12/APC optical connector is used per transceiver.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
Q:
What are the application scenarios for the MMS4A20-XM800 module?
A:
The MMS4A20-XM800 features a flat-top form factor and is primarily used with ConnextX-8 NICs to connect to QuantumX-800 XDR series switches.
Q:
What is the difference between the MMS4A20-XM800 and the MMS4X00-NS?
A:
The MMS4A20-XM800 is a single-port, four-channel module, with each channel operating at 200G PAM4. It is mainly used with ConnextX-8 NICs and connects to the 1.6T dual-port module. In contrast, the MMS4X00-NS is a dual-port, eight-channel module, with each channel operating at 100G PAM4, and is specifically designed for QM9700/9790 switches.
Q:
Can the MMS4A20-XM800 be used with NDR series switches?
A:
No. This module operates at 200G PAM4 per channel and adopts a flat-top design, making it incompatible with QM9700 series switches.
