NADDOD OSFP-800G-2xSR4H, built with Broadcom DSP and Broadcom VCSEL, is an InfiniBand and Ethernet 800Gb/s 2x400Gb/s Twin-port OSFP, SR8 multimode, parallel, 8-channel transceiver using two, 4-channel MPO-12/APC optical connectors at 400Gb/s each.The Twin-port SR8 transceiver is a key innovation with two internal transceiver engines enabling 64-ports of 400Gb/s in a 32-OSFP cage Quantum-2 switch. Can I use only one port for the 800G Twin-Port NDR 2xSR4 optical module?

Yes, if only one of the ports is used, the rate is 400G.

My network card is CX6 Q56 200G. Can I use an IB OSFP-800G-2xSR4 module to connect to a Q56-200G-SR4 module?

OSFP 800G cannot be split into four connections to QSFP56 200G; because OSFP 800G is 100G per lane, while QSFP56 200G is 50G per lane. We recommend using the OSFP-400G-2×SR4H module to connect two Q56-200G-SR4 modules. Alternatively, you can use a CX7 Q112 interface network card with a Q112-400G-SR4 module to downgrade to 200G, then connect to the OSFP 800G module to achieve a four-port configuration.

What are the differences between Flat Top modules and Finned Top modules?

Flat Top module's height is 9.5 mm without heat sinks, relying on the heatsinks on the NIC ports to assist the module in cooling, which fits into compact or constrained spaces without interference.
Finned Top modules feature a top design equipped with heat dissipation fins. The integrated top heatsink enhances cooling efficiency when handling massive data.

What kind of optical fiber do I need to use with the 800G Twin-Port NDR 2xSR4 optical module?

When the connection rate of both devices is 2x400G-2x400G, it is paired with two OM4 MPO-12/APC patch cords, and the corresponding NADDOD model is M4MPOA12FB . When the connection rate of both devices is 2x400G-4x200G, it is paired with two multimode OM4 MPO-2xMPO-4/APC patch cords, and the corresponding NADDOD model is M4MPOA2x4F.

Why is the polished type of multimode patch cable used in the NDR module MPO/APC (Angled Polished Connector)?

100G-PAM4 optoelectronic devices are very sensitive to reflections occurring within the fiber, about 10% of the light is reflected back to the transmitter as it passes through the optical connector, distorting the data signal, APC's optical connector deflects this reflected light.

One is with "Finned Top" and the other is "Flat Top"; Generally speaking, the "Flat Top" module is mainly used on the NIC side, because the thickness of the NIC is limited. The "Finned Top" module has a module top design with heat dissipation fins, which can increase heat dissipation capacity and improve module performance and reliability in high-temperature environments. It is usually used in Quantum-2 and Spectrum-4 air-cooled switches.
