Description

NVIDIA/Mellanox MMS4A50-XM Compatible 1.6T 2xFR4/FR8 InfiniBand XDR Optical Transceiver Module (Twin-port OSFP224, 1310nm, 2km (OS2) , Dual LC Duplex, DOM, for SMF, IHS/Closed Finned Top)

NADDOD OSFP-1.6T-2xFR4H is an 1.6T 2x 800Gb/s Twin-port OSFP, 2x FR4 single mode, Multiplexed, 8-channel transceiver using two, 2-fiber, LC Duplex optical connectors each carrying 4-channels of 200G-PAM4. The dual far reach 8-channel (2x FR4) design uses 200G-PAM4 electrical and optical modulation based on the CWDM4 serial, multiplexed 1310nm wavelength grid, and is designed for next-generation 1.6Tbps data center communication applications and InfiniBand.

Proven Stability & Reliability with Real Validation on New-Gen XDR Switches

The NADDOD OSFP-1.6T-2xFR4H transceiver has been thoroughly undergone rigorous testing in our in-house test center by using the new-gen NVIDIA Quantum-X800 Q3400-RA XDR switch with 144 ports of 800Gb/s connectivity over 72 OSFP cages, demonstrating low bit error rate for ensuring data integrity and stable operation under high-throughput workloads, successfully verifying seamless interoperability with XDR switches and proving ultimate reliability in high-speed network connectivity for next-generation data centers and HPC infrastructures.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
Q:
What’s the difference between LC‑interface 1.6T optical modules and MPO‑interface modules?
A:
MPO connectors are used in multimode or parallel single‑mode setups such as 2×SR4/SR8 or 2×DR4/DR8, which support multiple optical lanes and are well‑suited to short‑reach, high‑speed interconnects. LC connectors, on the other hand, are used for 2×FR4 (CWDM4) – a wavelength‑multiplexed point‑to‑point architecture optimized for medium‑to‑long‑reach links. 2×FR4 uses dual‑duplex LC interfaces and is geared toward point‑to‑point interconnects up to several thousand kilometers.
Q:
Can the IB 1.6T 2×FR4 OSFP224 module be used with the NVIDIA QM9700 switch?
A:
No. The QM9700 switch requires 8×100 G SerDes (aligned with 800G DR4 modules), whereas the 1.6 T 2×FR4 OSFP224 module over FR4 uses 8×212 G SerDes—this discrepancy in SerDes rates makes the two incompatible.
Q:
What are the typical application scenarios for the IB 1.6T 2×FR4 OSFP224 module?
A:
These modules are primarily used to interconnect NVIDIA Quantum‑X800 Q3400‑RA switches in high‑performance InfiniBand clusters.
