The NVIDIA® MFS1S50 is a QSFP56 VCSEL-based (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser), cost-effective, 200Gb/s to 2x 100Gb/s active optical splitter cable (AOC) designed for use in 200Gb/s InfiniBand (IB) HDR (High Data Rate) systems.It provides connectivity between system units with a 200Gb/s connector on one side and two separate 100Gb/s connectors on the other side, such as a switch and two servers.

Can the branch end of the 200G QSFP56 HDR branch AOC cable be used together with a 100G EDR QSFP28 port?
A:
No, it cannot. The 100G EDR QSFP28 uses 4x25G NRZ modulation, while the branch end of the 200G HDR QSFP56 branch AOC cable uses HDR100, which is a 2x50G PAM4 modulation. They are not compatible with each other.
Q:
How should the network card be selected for connecting the 200G QSFP56 HDR branch cable to the QM8700 switch and network card?
A:
You can choose a network card that supports either HDR100 100G QSFP56 ports or HDR 200G QSFP56 ports. HDR devices are usually backward compatible with HDR100.
Q:
What are the differences between 200G HDR, 100G HDR100, and 100G EDR?
A:
200G HDR uses 4x50G PAM4 modulation, HDR100 uses 2x50G PAM4 modulation, and 100G EDR uses 4x25G NRZ modulation. Generally, 200G HDR devices can be backward compatible with HDR100 and EDR, but EDR devices cannot be compatible with HDR100 or HDR.
